Zusammenfassung:Plugs for blocking a bone cavity are formed of desoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). The DNA is combined with a mineral or organic element, pref. Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe or an amine, and is stabilised to pH 6-7.5 by a partially neutralised salt of a polyacid or of a strong acid and a weak base, as buffer. The plug is obtd. by compressing DNA, and can be sterilised by radiation. ADVANTAGE - The compsn. is biodegradable, sterilisable by radiation, and neutral to cells, and can be shaped to a structure suitable for fitting into the cavity. In an example, a compsn. contg. 96.64% of Na DNA and 3.26% of NaH2PO4 was formed into truncated cones.
