Zusammenfassung:Active mass for an electrochemical cell electrode having a tridimensional porous support, in particular of the metal foam type, in the form of a paste consisting of an active substance of the metal hydroxide or metal hydride type introduced into a gel based on a hydroxycolloid, characterised in that the said hydroxycolloid is xanthane and that it is present in the said gel in a proportion of between 0.5% and 2% by weight, the proportion of active substance in the said paste lying between 40% and 60% by weight.
