Zusammenfassung:	The accumulator cell of the open type includes, in a tank provided with at least one opening enabling the gaseous products to escape, at least two plates (2, 3), respectively positive and negative, these plates (2, 3) being bathed in an acid electrolyte in the liquid state and being separated from one another by at least one separator cell having good physical and chemical resistance to the acid, the said separator being made of a composition based on short, unwoven glass fibres, or similar material fibres, of microscopic diameter, this separator (4) being compression-mounted onto at least one of the said plates (2, 3) with a compression factor of 5 to 40% relative to its initial thickness. The battery of the open type for heavy goods vehicles according to the invention includes several electrochemical cells of this type.
