Application in particular to arch furnaces used in the steelworking industry. Selon l'invention le joint de sable classique prévu entre la voûte (6) et la paroi latérale (1) d'un tour, est remplacé par un joint creux gonflable (10) parcouru par un liquide assurant simultanément son gonflage et son refroidissement. Application notamment aux fours à arc utilisés dans l'industrie sidérurgique.
