VARIETE HYBRIDE MALE STERILE DE TABAC NOIR "ITB1000" DESTINEE A LA PRODUCTION INDUSTRIELLE DE FEUILLES DE TABAC

New plant production of black tobacco. The invention relates to a new sterile male F1 hybrid variety of black tobacco. It was obtained by crossing between the sterile male tobacco variety "MS A1", maintained by fertilisation with the fertile variety "A1", and the fertile tobacco variety "PB 523" maintained by self-fertilisation. It is mainly characterised by the purplish-red colour (ref. RHS 62-B) of its flowers, an angle of about 45 DEG of its leaves, a good combined resistance to known tobacco diseases, a greater precocity, a yield and a combustibility which are superior to those of known varieties, a "green index" permitting an improved colour of the dry tobacco. The invention is particularly suitable for exploitation in industrial cultivation for the production of tobacco leaves.
