Purificn. of an emulsifying cpd. (I) contg. dioxan, selected from ethoxylated aliphatic alcohols and their salts comprises (a) contacting (I) with a solvent comprising a gas in dense phase at a temp. T1 and pressure P1, capable of extracting (I), (b) releasing the dense phase in (a) at a pressure P2 less than P1 and at a temp. T2 at most equal to T1 to vaporise the solvent and the dioxan with recovery of the purified (I) in liquid phase, (c) sepg. the liquid phase contg. the purified (I) and the gas phase contg. the solvent and the dioxan, (d) releasing the gas phase at a pressure P3 less than P2 to liquefy it, and (e) distilling-rectifying the thus liquefied gas phase at temps. less than T2 under pressure P3, to concentrate the dioxan in the liquid phase and obtain a gas phase contg. only the solvent. USE/ADVANTAGE - For reducing the dioxan content present in e.g. Na ether-sulphates, used partic. in cosmetics. The process uses milder conditions than prior art hydrodistillation which uses high temps. giving rise to hydrolysis reactions. L'invention concerne la purification d'un composé émulsionnant contenant du dioxanne.On met en contact le composé émulsionnant dans l'extracteur 1 avec un solvant dense, constitué par exemple par du gaz carbonique à l'état supercritique ou liquide; on détend ensuite en 5 la phase liquide qui contient le dioxanne à éliminer et une partie du composant émulsionnant à purifier pour vaporiser le gaz carbonique et le dioxanne qui sont ensuite séparés dans le séparateur 7, détendus en 8 pour être liquéfiés, et soumis en 11 à une distillation-rectification de façon à récupérer au fond du séparateur 11 un concentré liquide de dioxanne et à recycler par l'intermédiaire de l'échangeur de liquéfaction 15 le gaz carbonique utilisé comme solvant. Le composé émulsionnant purifié est récupéré en 1, 3 et 9.
