The laser head 3 of the laser 1 is linked to the base 2 of the latter by hinges having a common axis R parallel to the axis 4a of the laser beam. When the lamp for excitation of the laser bar is to be replaced, it is thus possible to pivot the head 3 about the axis R into a position in which this lamp can be easily removed from its housing and in which a new lamp can be inserted into this housing, this removal and insertion being carried out by moving the lamp along its axis 5a.
