Zusammenfassung:To prepare L-tryptophan and DL-serine, serine-containing discharges from protein hydrolysis or sugar beet processing are fractionated by ion exclusion chromatography. The low-ash serine solutions obtained in this way are concentrated, DL-serine is removed and the concentrated L-serine solutions are reacted with indole and a cell suspension containing tryptophan synthetase to give L-tryptophan.
