In order to reduce the stresses on the lining, there is provided a trolley sliding along the frame 18 and provided with at least one clamp mounted on the frame 18 so as to be able to pivot around a horizontal axis orthogonal to the direction of movement of the trolley, the said clamp comprising means for attaching the probe 10 and driving it in the direction of introduction of the probe when the trolley is moved in the direction of the furnace.
