Hydraulic mortar compositions exhibiting an improved tensile strength, and the method for preparing them. The method comprises the incorporation into the mortar of glass fibres coated with epoxy resin emulsion containing a hardener. The emulsion generally contains some 50 to 75 % by weight of epoxy resin; it is employed in a quantity corresponding to a weight ratio (resin plus hardener)/glass fibres of 1/1 to 5/1. The glass fibres thus coated may be incorporated into the mortar in a proportion of 1 to 10 % by weight. The set mortar has a tensile strength increased by a factor of 3 to 4.
