Laminated stator for electrical machine

The stator is constructed from a stack of steel plates having polygonal shape. The plates may be made according to more than one design, but include a common straight edge (3) at a specific distance from an axis of symmetry (4). The sheets of different shape are cut alternately from a sheet of steel (14). The resulting sheets are then stacked alternately to form the stator block, with the differing shapes defining cooling channels between their edges.
