The signals detected by the receiving aerials A1 and A2 are directed to a correlator 3. The frequency spectrum of the output signal from the correlator is analysed, generally using a Fourier transform (FFT) method. Application particularly to revolution counting, range finding, direction and tracking control, detection of nonuniformity and discontinuities in materials.
