Offset printing plate edge bending unit

The mechanism is intended for bending the ends (24) of a flat offset printing plate (12). It comprises an anvil (36) with plane upper plate support surface and a downward inwardly inclined face (40) intersecting that surface at the plate bending line. A clamp unit (46) holds the plate on the surface with its edges (24) projecting and a bending unit (110) is swivellable to engage each projecting plate portion (24), along a line parallel to and a distance from the bending line. In its final position, the inclined face of the bending rail is parallel to the face (40) and presses the end portion (24) against this face. The swivel axis (on 114) of the bending unit is arranged inward of the bending line at a considerable distance in relation to the plate thickness.
