Zusammenfassung:The process is for improving the appearance of veneers used in furniture finishing and house-building, by varied staining. Veneers, up to 0.8mm thick, are treated with watery colouring solutions, by immersion. Immediately preceding contact with the solution, they are subjected to water 40 deg.C to 98 deg.C, for 5-60 minutes. The water's temperature is pref. between 50 deg.C and 90 deg.C, and the duration of treatment 15 to 30 minutes. This ensures thorough penetration, so that the effect is not largely lost in the course of subsequent machining which varies the surface level.
