Zusammenfassung:Prodn. of a combustible gas is effected by anaerobic fermentation of a mixt. of vinasse and a fermentable co-substrate (I) whose soluble COD is less than 20% of its total COD and after alkaline treatment is less than 30% (pref. less than 20%) of its total COD. Disclosed (I) are the organic fraction of domestic refuse, sewage sludge, lignocellulosic agricultural waste, black peat, river or bog silt, and spent mushroom compost. The soluble COD of the vinasse is pref. more than 40% of its total COD. The vinasse: (I) wt. ratio may be 5:95 to 95:5 (pref. 30:70 to 70:30). Addn. of (I) improves the stability of fermentation, increases gas prodn., and improves the agricultural quality of the fermented residue.
