Zusammenfassung:A diaphragm fabric for electrolysis diaphragm is produced by radiochemically grafting a monomer on a fluorocarbon polymer substrate, by placing the latter under vacuo and irradiating it with ionising radiation, then allowing it to stand in air, contacting it with a reaction mixt. contg. the monomer and heating the assembly to cause grafting. The diaphragm keeps its characteristics for much longer periods of time than prior art diaphragms, partic. in KOH at 200 deg.C. For example, the ionic resistance increases 15 times more than that of another diaphragm with the same degree of grafting obtd. by another method and placed uder the same operating conditions, after a given period of time. PROCEDE DE FABRICATION DE DIAPHRAGME D'ELECTROLYSEUR ET DIAPHRAGME OBTENU SELON CE PROCEDE.L'INVENTION CONCERNE UN PROCEDE DE FABRICATION DE DIAPHRAGME D'ELECTROLYSEUR, PAR VOIE RADIOCHIMIQUE.CE PROCEDE COMPORTE DES ETAPES DANS LESQUELLES UN SUBSTRAT EN POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE EST IRRADIE SOUS VIDE V PAR UN RAYONNEMENT IONISANT, PUIS EST REMIS A L'AIR AVANT D'ETRE SOUMIS A L'ACTION D'UN MELANGE REACTIONNEL S CONTENANT UN MONOMERE GREFFON (ACIDE ACRYLIQUE), DE TELLE SORTE QUE CE SUBSTRAT GREFFE CONSTITUE UN NOUVEAU DIAPHRAGME.UN TEL DIAPHRAGME S'APPLIQUE NOTAMMENT A LA SEPARATION DES COMPARTIMENTS ANODIQUE ET CATHODIQUE DANS LES CELLULES D'ELECTROLYSE.
