Zusammenfassung:The electro-optical distributor for an IC engine includes a light source and photo detector, the detector intermittently receiving light from the source via a shutter. The light and source are mounted in a sealed unit, with the shutter rotating to produce the ignition distribution signals. The shutter is driven by a magnetic coupling, so that the drive shaft does not pass through the wall of the sealed unit. Two discs are arranged with one on each of the housing. One is driven while the other rotates the shutter. Each has a number of magnets attached to its surface so that the opposite poles on the two discs face each other. The magnets may be radially directed bar magnets, or magnetic discs lying flat on the disc surface.
