Sealing cartridge for anchoring retaining bolts or rods, comprises a flexible external sheath and a fracturable internal element; a first volume defined by the internal element filled with a dry mixt. of silica sand and hydraulic binder; a second volume defined by the internal element and the sheath filled with an aq. soln. or suspension or vice versa. The sheath and the wall of the internal element are resistant to and impermeable to water. The internal element is designed so that no contact occurs between the dry mixt. and the soln. or suspension. The cartridge finds use in consolidation of mine galleries and in the field of public works, esp. holes in unstable ground. The mixt. contains no organic materials likely to release toxic or flammable vapours, esp. underground.
