Waste water clarifier for cellulose industry - having sealed vessel with overflow under vacuum to deaerate as well as thicken

Water clarifier has a clarification zone, a thickening zone for the sludge which are separated from the first by a partition and an overflow weir which feeds into a sealed rum run off pipe and is fed from the main inlet water supply. The clarified water runs off from a sealed chamber via a barometric leg. This prevents ingress of atmospheric air into the separator. The radial weir at the top is inside the vessel which is sealed and operates at reduced pressure. Scum and entrained air is run off the surface through a sealed run off line while the bulk of the liq. flows down into the clarifier. The clarifier is for use in the cellulose and paper industries. The design allows initial removal of fine air bubbles from the waste water stream which otherwise interfere with the settling of the cellulose fibres. This improves the efficiency of the clarification.
