Zusammenfassung:Relative movement of the cast ingot and the mould is adjusted by monitoring the level of the molten metal in the mould. This is achieved by insulating one part of the mould and connecting it to an electronic circuit measuring the actual voltage (Va) between the mould and the ingot or between a moving core mandrel and the ingot. Va is compared with a desired voltage (Vref), and any difference is used to alter the speed at which the ingot is lowered out of the mould or at which a core mandrel is fed upwards into the mould. Metallurgical quality of solid or tubular ingots is improved.
