Zusammenfassung:Cis-polyisoprene is made by polymerising isoprene in an polar hydrocarbon solvent medium at 0-60 degrees C in the presence of 0.2 - 0.7 pts. wt. (per 100 pts. wt. isoprene) of a catalyst consisting of a 1:1.5 to 1:1.1 (mol) reaction prod. of TiCl4 and an inter cyclic organoaluminium cpd. of formula in which R (same or different) are H or CH3. The catalyst gives high yields of polymer with a high cis-polyisoprene content, a high mol.wt. and low gel content. The (I) and (II) do not ignite in air, and are thus safe to use than trialkylaluminium cpds. The cis-polyisoprene prods. are useful as raw materials in the tyre industry and for the prodn. of technical rubber prods..
