The electrode is constructed of a metal housing of Cu, or a Cu alloy contg. Ni. or a Cu alloy with Ni, al and Mn, which is filled with a powder mixt. composed of (wt.% of total wt. of electrode) W carbide 45 - 70, Ni 0.3 - 10.5, Mn 0.5 - 11, contg. in addn. Mg 0.2 - 1.0, Al 0.2 - 1.0, a fluorpolymer 1.5 - 3.0, Ti 0.3 - 0.6 and Ni oxide 0.5 -1.5. Used for improving the wear resistance of blast furnace charging equipment, made of steel, such as dampers, throat stoppers and funnels.
