Zusammenfassung:At least one of the safety-related systems (A-D) within the installation comprises at least one primary device (8c,8d,19c) powered by a unit (15c,15d,16c,16d,17c,17d,18c) operating independently from the external and internal electricity networks. A nuclear installation contains a number of separate safety-related systems, each comprising a number of safety devices (5a-8d,19c) powered via an external electricity supply network (11) and/or an internal electricity supply network (10a-10d), independently of the state of the other safety-related systems. At least one of the safety-related systems comprises at least one primary safety device powered by a unit operating independently from the external and internal electricity networks. TECHNOLOGY FOCUS - ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY - The power units for the primary safety devices comprise electric motors (15c,15d) connected to electricity generators (16c, 16d) via independent electric conductors, the generators being driven by independent internal combustion engine motors (17c,17d). The primary safety devices include pumps and fans with the pumps being used to supply liquid to the reactor tank (1) or remove residual heat from the installation. A further primary safety device (19c) comprises a fan or pump for creating a flow of coolant medium for at least part of the motors driving the generators.
