Zusammenfassung:	Procedure for making or repairing a metal plate or similar construction with openings 5, which plate is designed for the separation or screening of objects on the basis of their size. The walls of the opening 5 and the surface of the plate in the immediate vicinity of the opening's walls are cold-worked, so that a compressive- stress thin layer 12 is formed on the surface. On this compressive-stress layer, a wear-resistant surface coating means 13 is applied which stops the compressive- stress layer 12 wearing off and gives the openings 5 a desired width.
