Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a process for recovering zinc from silicates which contain zinc oxide-containing material. According to the process, the zinc compounds are dissolved under conditions which are such that the silicates remain undissolved and consequently do not give rise to filtration problems. The silicate-containing residue is treated by the Waelz process, with the greater part of the silicic acid in the silicates being bound to the iron silicate slag which is formed in the Waelz process, and the zinc being recirculated to the solution, chiefly in the form of oxide. |
