Zusammenfassung:A composition for producing a refractory fibre which tolerates high temperatures and alkalis. The composition of the mixture by weight is 46 - 52% silicon dioxide, 32 - 38% aluminium oxide and 13 - 18% zirconium oxide, and the ratio between the silicon dioxide and the zirconium oxide is within the range 2.6 - 3.8. The maximum functional temperature of these fibres is within the range 1400 degree C (2550 degree F) - 1455 degree C (2650 degree F), and their shrinkage resistance is better than that of corresponding commercially available refractory fibres within the same functional range.
