Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a process for producing hollow polymer latices. A first batch of an organic phase is introduced into an aqueous phase. The first batch of the organic phase comprises a monomer, which is essentially insoluble in the aqueous phase, and an inert, nonpolymerizable hydrocarbon. The polymer which is formed in connection with the polymerization of the monomer is essentially insoluble in the hydrocarbon, the hydrocarbon is essentially insoluble in the aqueous phase and the monomer is miscible with the hydrocarbon. The monomer is polymerized in order to form a polymer of low molecular weight, which phase-separates from the organic phase and is concentrated on the surface of the organic phase with the formation of a polymer phase of low molecular weight. A second batch of the organic phase is then introduced into the aqueous phase, when the polymer of low molecular weight reaches a conversion ratio of monomer to polymer which is equal to or less than 80%, with the second batch of the organic phase comprising a crosslinking monomer and with the crosslinking monomer being absorbed in the polymer phase of low molecular weight. Further polymerization produces a hollow polymer latex particle.
