According to the process, the analyte firstly reduces a first electron acceptor in the presence of a PQQ dehydrogenase, after which a colour change occurs when the analyte begins to reduce a chromogen. By means of changing the quantity of electron acceptor, the process for the reagent combination can be adjusted to indicate a quantity of analyte which exceeds or falls below a particular threshold value.
