Zusammenfassung:	Graft polymers comprising a polysaccharide as the graft base and water-soluble, ethylenically unsaturated, carboxyl-containing monomers can be prepared by batchwise free-radical inverse suspension polymerisation. If partial dewatering is carried out after the polymerisation and the products are then crosslinked using transverse crosslinking agents, graft polymers are obtained which have a very good absorption capacity and are further improved with respect to their absorption rate for water and body fluids and their fine-particle character.
