Zusammenfassung:Process and apparatus for the precipitation of anionic impurities from waste waters (effluent) using synthetic cationic polymers. After the pH has been adjusted to a value of 2.5 to 8.5, preferably 4.0 to 4.5, the waste waters are initially partially treated with synthetic cationic polymers, particularly polyimine, from a supply tank (17), at a temperature of 50 to 60 DEG C in a reactor (15). To the water so treated are added natural, hydrolysed or cationically-substituted products of starches or hemicelluloses to complete the precipitation of the anionic impurities. The addition of the pH reagents and the precipitation agents is carried out fully automatically. The process and the apparatus are used predominantly in the purification of waste waters from the pulp and paper industries.
