Zusammenfassung:1486864 Pet foods; preservation GENERAL FOODS CORP 15 April 1975 [8 May 1974 (2)] 15518/75 Headings A2B and A2D A proteinaceous pet food of moisture content 35 to 60% and pH 5.5 to 7.0 comprises 4 to 12% of propylene or butylene glycol and 4 to 15% of glycerol together with an antimicrobial agent such that the A w is less than 0.93 and the food is resistant to microbial growth when packaged without sterilization. The protein may be meat, casein, or vegetable protein e.g. soy. The food may be cooked at 150-250‹F for 2-10 minutes and coated with fat, or farinaceous or proteinaceous material. The antimicrobial agent may be an antimycotic such as potassium sorbate. A binder e.g. egg albumin, gelatin, wheat or corn flour. sodium CMC or α-cellulose, may also be included.
