(I) is obtd. in a one-stage process without by-prods., by reacting 1 equiv. of acetylsalicylic acid and 1 equiv. of N-acetyl-p-aminophenol in the presence of a condensn. agent (II) and a tert. amine (III). The reaction is carried out in a suitable solvent e.g. DMF or THF at 0 degree C. II is e.g. a sulphonylchloride, chlorocarbonic ester or dicyclobenzyl-carbodiimides. III is e.g. N(Et)3. I ("benorilate") has antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity.
