[Also in Division C2] Herbicidal compositions containing as active ingredient a compound of the formula where R 1 is a C 2-3 alkyl radical with 3 to 6 fluorine atoms and optionally further halogen atoms as substituents, R 2 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl or ethyl radical, R 3 is a methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy radical, R 4 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, stated to be novel, either alone or with a suitable carrier and if desired one or more of the following solvent, dispersant, emulsifier, vehicle, wetting agent, other herbicides, soil insecticides or fertilizers, are applied to the weed habitat. Suitable herbicides are listed and fall within the classes, urea, triazine, urazil, pyrazone, carbamic acid, dinitrophenol derivatives, growth-promoting preparations, chlorinated aliphatic acids and amides, dipyriditium compounds, anilides and nitriles.
