Zusammenfassung:	The invention describes a method of providing an edge seal (S1, S01, S01F) along a longitudinal edge (3E) of an add-on part (3) mounted on the outer surface (20) of a rotor blade (2), which method comprises the steps of determining a height (t1) at the longitudinal edge (3E) of the add-on part (3); choosing a width (51) for the edge seal (S1, S01, S01F) to be applied on the rotor blade surface (20), wherein the width (51) of the edge seal (S1, S01, S01F) is chosen to exceed the height (t1) at the longitudinal edge (3E) of the add-on part (3) by a factor of at least twenty; and forming the edge seal (S1, S01, S01F) by applying a sealant material (S) to the rotor blade surface (20) at least in a volume defined by the height (t1) at the longitudinal edge (3E) of the add-on part (3) and the chosen edge seal width (δ1).
