Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a shock absorber (1) for vehicles comprising a cylinder (2) with a longitudinal shaft (LS) filled with a non-Newtonian shear thickening fluid (STF) along which a plunger (3) moves longitudinally. The cross-section of the plunger (3) is smaller than an inner cross-section of the cylinder (2) to allow the STF to pass through a space between said plunger (3) and an inner wall of the cylinder (2). Furthermore, the plunger (3) is configured such that the resistance offered by the STF against the movement of the plunger (3) along a first direction of movement is different from the resistance offered by the STF against the movement of the plunger (3) along a second direction of movement opposite to the first.
