The invention relates to a double-pivot changing adapter, arranged on a main spindle unit, for exchangeably fitting a tool pivoting unit, which has a pivoting head, in which a driveable and rotatable tool holder is arranged. The double-pivot changing adapter has a first drive, which makes the tool pivoting unit pivotable by any desired pivoting angle about the centre line of the unit spindle. The double-pivot changing adapter also has a second drive, which makes the catch element that can be coupled to a driving element of the pivoting head's own pivoting mechanism able to pivot by any desired pivoting angle about the centre line of the unit spindle. The two drives can be driven synchronously and asynchronously in relation to each other. The present invention develops a double-pivot changing adapter with which an exchangeable, driverless tool pivoting unit can be manipulated externally in such a way that its tool holder can turn about its own axis under load and be pivoted about a perpendicular to said axis.
