A method and system for tracking a vehicle is disclosed. The method comprises determining a location of the vehicle at a plurality of times using a mobile tracking device (10) disposed on the vehicle; detecting an event for the vehicle from at least one of the plurality of determined locations using the mobile tracking device (10); and transmitting a location of the vehicle to a remote device using the mobile tracking device (10) in response to detecting the event. The system comprises a mobile communications device (2) within a secure container (4), the mobile communications device comprising a GPS receiver (26), wherein the GPS receiver (26) is configured to receive a plurality of GPS locations and and wherein the mobile communications device (2) is configured to detect an event from at least one of the plurality of locations and to transmit a location to a remote device in response to detecting the event. Also, a method for determining a service cost for a service call is disclosed. |
