Method and system for allocating capacity in shared radio access networks of wide area cellular telephone networks being shared by N mobile network operators, N ‰¥ 2, wherein allocation of an available bandwidth (1) on lub -or lur- interface comprises splitting the available bandwidth (1) of the interface into a set of N sharable partitions, each sharable partition having bandwidth initially assigned to one of the N mobile network operators for allocation to its traffic applying priority in packets and the bandwidth being available for any of the other N-1 operators to allocate the traffic from their users, as long as there is free bandwidth; if there is no free bandwidth in the sharable partition assigned to a given operator, bandwidth from another sharable partition, assigned to another of the N-1 operators, is allocated to the traffic applying a priority lower than the priority of packets of the other operator.
