Heat-cured coating powder containing hydroquinone or mono-alkylated hydroquinone derivatives of benzene, naphthalene, anthracene or phenanthrene in addition to carboxy-functional polyesters, Bisphenol A epoxy resins and optionally pigments and/or other additives. Heat-cured coating materials comprising: (A) a carboxy-functional polyester with a Tg of 30-80 degrees C and an acid number of 20-100 mg KOH/g, obtained by condensation of aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic polyols with aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic and/or aromatic polycarboxylic acids or anhydrides; (B) a Bisphenol A/epichlorhydrin-based epoxy resin in an equivalent ratio of epoxide/carboxylic acid = 0.6-1.2; (C) compound(s) of formula (I)-(X) and optionally pigments and/or fillers and/or thermal stabilizers, preferably phosphites and/or tribo-additives and/or other additives such as flow improvers and degassing agents. R = optionally branched 1-10 C alkyl. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of coating powders by melt-compounding the above components at 60-140 degrees C in an extruder, cooling the extruded product, milling and sieving to a particle size of less than 90 microns. |
