LA INVENCION PROPORCIONA UN COMPUESTO ANALGESICO TOPICO QUE COMPRENDE UNA EMULSION DE ACEITE EN AGUA, CONTENIENDO ALREDEDOR DE UN 5% A UN 12% POR PESO DE IBUPROFENO Y ALREDEDOR DE UN 60% A UN 90% POR PESO DE AGUA, CONSTANDO LA FASE OLEOSA DE LA EMULSION ESENCIALMENTE DE CONSTITUYENTES EMOLIENTES QUE NO DISUELVEN EL IBUPROFENO EN NINGUNA GRAN EXTENSION, CON UN PH DE 4-7, TENIENDO LA COMPOSICION UN PH DE ALREDEDOR DE UN 4 A UN 7.2, DE TAL FORMA QUE EL IBUPROFENO ESTA EN SUSPENSION EN UNA FORMA SUBSTANCIALMENTE CRISTALINA SOLIDA Y EL IBUPROFENO QUE ESTA DISUELTO ESTA EN UN ESTADO PARCIALMENTE NEUTRO O NO CARGADO. LA INVENCION TAMBIEN INCLUYE UN PROCESO PARA PREPARAR ESTE COMPUESTO. The invention provides a topical analgesic composition comprising an oil-in-water emulsion containing about 5% to about 12% by weight of ibuprofen and about 60% to about 90% by weight of water, the oil phase of the emulsion consisting essentially of emollient constituents that do not dissolve the ibuprofen to any great extent at a pH of 4-7, the composition having a pH of about 4 to about 7.2 such that the ibuprofen is suspended in substantially solid crystalline form and the ibuprofen which is dissolved is partially in the neutral or non-charged state. The invention also includes a process for preparing this composition.
