A charger extension cable for an electric vehicle connects with a home circuit and a charging gun 20 of the electric vehicle. The extension cable has a body with a plug 1 that connects with the home circuit. The plug also connects with an electromagnetic (EM) protection switch 3 via a first extension part 2. An output end of the EM protection switch connects with a measuring meter 4 and an output end of the measuring meter couples with a first socket 9 via a second extension part 5. The first socket connects with the charging gun and may have an insulation cover to prevent electric shock. The EM protection switch controls a flow of electric current through the switch and cuts off the current to protect the body. The measuring meter displays an amount of charging power to a user. The extension cable may include a circuit connector with: an input terminal 6, which connects with an output end of an electricity meter in the home circuit; and a second socket 7 which connects with the plug of the body. The body may include a protection case 8 which houses the EM protection switch and measuring meter and which includes a cavity to accommodate the first and second extension parts.
