Zusammenfassung:Illustrated and described is a shut-off device for connection to a water supply system and for limiting the flow of water in the water supply system through the shut-off device (1, 1', 1''), wherein: the shut-off device (1, 1', 1'') comprises a shut-off member (3, 3', 3'') for setting the water throughflow; the shut-off member (3, 3', 3'') has an actuation device (4, 4', 4'') so that an operator can adjust the shut-off member (3, 3', 3''); the shut-off device (1, 1', 1'') comprises a blocking and/or throttling device (5, 5', 5'') for blocking and/or throttling the flow of water through the shut-off device (1, 1', 1''), in particular through the shut-off member (3, 3', 3''); no water pipe (7, 7'') or one that is devoid of branching is provided in the direct connection of the shut-off member (3, 3', 3'') and the blocking and/or throttling device (5, 5', 5''); the blocking and/or throttling device (5, 5', 5'') is designed for automatically prescribing a maximum flow of water through the shut-off device (1, 1', 1''), which varies as required in terms of time and/or location, independently of an actuation of the actuation device (4, 4', 4'') according to fixed specifications on the part of the water supplier and/or according to current operating parameters of the water supply system and/or according to forecast values relating to the water supply system. The shut-off device ensures that it is always possible to adjust the supply and demand of water in the water supply system in an expedient manner.
