Zusammenfassung:	A method for operating a radar system (12) for a vehicle (10), a radar system (12) and a vehicle (10) are described. In the method, the radar system (12) is used to carry out at least one radar measurement, within the scope of which at least one radar signal is transmitted by means of at least one transmission antenna element of at least one transmission antenna arrangement of the radar system (12) and a reception readiness for possible radar echo signals based on the at least one radar signal is established for at least one receiver antenna element of at least one receiver antenna arrangement of the radar system (12), with the at least one transmission antenna element being controlled according to at least one control scheme. It is no later than at the start of the at least one radar measurement that a basic control scheme for the radar system (12), specified depending on a use purpose of the radar system (12) on the vehicle (10), is set for at least one measurement mode of the radar system (12), with the basic control scheme being used to adjust a basic main beam axis (42) of the at least one transmission antenna arrangement to the use purpose of the radar system (12) and the at least one radar measurement being carried out on the basis of the basic control scheme.
