Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a device and method for performing oxygen saturation measurements. A longitudinal channel structure is provided that is removably insertable into an ear canal, the channel structure having an outer portion configured to expand into an expanded position, wherein in the expanded position the channel structure is configured such that its outer portion exerts pressure against an inner surface of the ear canal of the user. A longitudinal open channel is formed by a body of the channel structure to maintain an opening in the ear canal when the channel structure is placed in its expanded position in the ear canal, wherein the channel structure includes a plurality of photosensitive sensors which are utilized for performing pulse oximetry measurements when the device is in the expanded position.
