By closing the end so that the tobacco portion (110) is not exposed to a distal end (104), advantageously, a consumable (100) is provided that reduces the risk or likelihood of tobacco (110) from falling out or being pulled out from the consumable (100) in use or during transportation and / or during the production process.There is therefore provided a consumable (100) wherein a membrane (130) is arranged to cover an end face (114) of an aerosol-generating substrate (110), wherein the membrane (130) is glued to an inside circumferential face of a combining paper (120) that is wrapped around the aerosol-generating substrate (110).There is therefore also provided a method of manufacturing a consumable (100) having a closed end, wherein the method comprises the steps of forming a part-processed consumable (102) having a recessed end (104) and subsequently gluing a membrane (130) to the inside circumferential face of a combining paper (120) that is wrapped around an aerosol-generating substrate (110) in order to close an end face (114) of the aerosol-generating substrate (110) with the membrane (130).
