Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method for determining the speed and/or direction of motion of a vehicle, with a camera (1) on the vehicle recording at least one image (10, 11) of the surroundings of the vehicle, at least one object being identified in the image (10, 11) by a processing device (6, 7), and the speed and/or direction of motion of the vehicle being calculated on the basis of the motion of the object relative to the vehicle, characterized in that an optical axis (A) of the camera (1) is aligned substantially at right angles to the surface (4) below the vehicle for the purpose of recording the image (10, 11).
