Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for optimizing the chemical composition of a material, preferably of a metal material used for continuous casting, comprising the steps: (i) creating a chemical composition for a specific material or retrieving a created chemical composition for a specific material from a database, wherein an admissible limit range exist for each chemical component of the material, which range is defined by admissible upper limits and lower limits; (ii) changing at least one chemical component of the material from step (i) within the admissible limit range; (iii) calculating at least one target function in the form of a material property and/or structural property of the material by means of a computational material model on the basis of the chemical composition of the material changed according to step (ii); (iv) comparing the target function calculated according to step (iii) with a predetermined admissible target range for the calculated target function; (v) if the checking according to step (iv) shows that the calculated target function lies within the predetermined target range: storing the chemical composition changed according to step (ii) in a database in order to use it to define a new target composition for the material.
