Zusammenfassung:	A battery (2) includes an outer can (10) and an electrode group (22) housed in the outer can (10) together with an alkaline electrolyte solution. The electrode group (22) includes a positive electrode (24) and a negative electrode (26) stacked together with a separator (28) therebetween. The negative electrode (26) includes a negative electrode core (27) and a negative electrode mixture (29) retained on the negative electrode core (27). The negative electrode mixture (29) contains at least one of zinc, a zinc alloy, and a zinc-containing compound. The negative electrode core (27) is composed of a nonporous copper foil. The separator (28) is a composite including a nonwoven fabric (42) and a microporous film (40) stacked together in the thickness direction. The value of A/B is 0.28 or more and 0.53 or less, where A is the total thickness of the microporous film (40), and B is the total thickness of the nonwoven fabric (42).
