WASHING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME

A washing machine is disclosed. The washing machine comprises: a detergent supply part; a washing tub; a water supply part; a motor for supplying a liquid accommodated in the detergent supply part into the washing tub along a fluid channel connecting the detergent supply part and the washing tub; a first sensor for detecting a type of the liquid accommodated in the detergent supply part; a second sensor for detecting a water level of the washing tub; and a processor configured to identify the type of the liquid existing in the detergent supply part on the basis of a sensing value detected through the first sensor when a user command for cleaning the fluid channel is input, to control the water supply part to enable water to be supplied into the washing tub when the liquid accommodated in the detergent supply part is identified as water, and to drive the motor to enable the water accommodated in the detergent supply part to be supplied into the washing tub along the fluid channel when the water level of the washing tub detected through the second sensor after the water is supplied into the washing tub is higher than a predetermined value.
