Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for producing an electrode for use in the alkaline electrolysis of water, the electrode comprising a planarly extending section of a flat metal material to which a layer of particles of an electrochemically active metal alloy is applied, the method including the following steps: provision of a planarly extending section of a flat metal material in the form of an expanded metal grid, wire mesh or wire knitted fabric, metallic nonwoven or metallic foam or perforated sheet, each made of nickel or a nickel alloy or nickel-plated metal, pulsed mechanical blasting of the planarly extending section on both sides for cleaning and preparation for a coating, provision of a powder mixture of nickel powder and aluminum(40-50)-nickel(35-40)-molybdenum(15-20) alloy powder, the proportion of nickel powder being 5-25% by weight of the powder mixture, coating of the mechanically blasted section on both sides with the powder mixture by thermal spraying or by laser cladding to obtain a coating on both sides, temperature control of the coated section at temperatures in the range between 250°C and 650°C in a non-reductive nitrogen or argon atmosphere for a period of 10 - minutes to form aluminum-nickel phases.
